Maybe it was Roy Rogers and Trigger who started the trend, but
there's not a soul in a saddle who hasn't dreamed of cantering a
beautiful palomino stallion across a sun drenched beach with silver
mane and tail flying in the breeze. Combine that dream with a
wonderful Tennessee Walking Horse that happens to have excellent
bloodlines, temperament and gait, and one would say it's a dream
come true.
Armed Son Of A Gun is just such a horse. He has the bloodlines of
champions, the smooth gaits of a good walking horse, and the
brilliant coloring so many buyers are fervently seeking. This
four-year-old stallion was sired by Gen's Armed And Dangerous, the
1994 World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horse. He, of course,
was sired by Prides Generator, the most influential sire of our
generation.
Son Of A Gun's dam comes from a long, well-established line of
palomino horses. Chance's Golden Moon, is a lovely palomino mare
that traces back to the palomino stallion John A's Last Chance, a direct son
of Last Chance. According to some
walking horse historians, this stallion is probably where the
palomino gene first appeared in these bloodlines since Last Chance
was a sorrel. The dam's pedigree alone lists ten palominos including
Radiant Golden Girl. In fact, Son Of A Gun's pedigree traces back to
John A's Last Chance at least five times.
Armed Son Of A Gun is also proving he is a performer. He has a show
ring record that is making his owners proud. He has won Model
Championships at prestigious shows including the Dixie Jubilee in
Baton Rouge, LA, the Desert Classic in India, CA, and the Southern
Championships in Perry, GA. Most recently, Son Of A Gun carried home
the 2000 Reserve World Champion Racking Horse in the Model Division.
This year, professional trainer Jeff Givens plans to campaign him
for the walking horse world championship at the National Celebration
in August 2001. "He's a very loose moving, big striding horse," says
Jeff. "He catches the judge's eye the minute he walks into the ring.
I'm looking for big things from him this year."
Looks, talent and bloodlines, this horse has it all. As for his
experience as a breeding stallion, he's still very young. He's been
bred sparingly, and his first crop of colts will hit the ground late
this fall. Even so, all indications are he'll pass along everything
he's got to his off-spring. Can't wait to see that dream come true. |
