Reference: Tom Hal

Bred by Mr. Biggers of Petersburg Tennessee and foaled in 1862. Tom Hal was the result of crossing the pacer stallion, Kittrell's Tom Hal, to the Thoroughbred mare, Julia Johnson.  In 1942, Jimmy Joe Murray called him "the greatest of all Walking Horse sires." There was some argument amongst the TWHBEA committee members who assigned the foundation numbers that he should have received the F-1 designation.
